Coverage Options
ShieldPoint offers a range of auto coverage options. The coverages available to you, and the limits you can choose, depend on your state of residence, your vehicle, and your driving history. Not all coverages listed below are available in all states.
Liability Coverage
Covers bodily injury and property damage you cause to others in an at-fault accident. Most states require a minimum level of liability coverage. We offer limits well above state minimums for added protection.
Collision Coverage
Pays to repair or replace your vehicle after a collision with another vehicle or object, regardless of fault. Subject to your chosen deductible.
Comprehensive Coverage
Covers damage to your vehicle from events other than collisions — including theft, fire, hail, flooding, and animal strikes. Subject to your chosen deductible.
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage
Protects you if you're hit by a driver who has no insurance or insufficient coverage to pay for your injuries or property damage. Required in some states; optional in others.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
Covers medical expenses for you and your passengers regardless of fault. Required in no-fault states; availability and requirements vary by state.
Medical Payments (MedPay)
Covers medical expenses for you and your passengers resulting from an accident, regardless of fault. Available in most states where PIP is not required.
Optional Add-Ons
- Roadside assistance
- Rental reimbursement
- Gap coverage (for financed or leased vehicles)
- Rideshare coverage
Availability of optional coverages varies by state. Ask about add-ons when you get your quote.
How Rates Are Determined
Auto insurance rates are based on a variety of factors and are subject to approval by your state's Department of Insurance. Factors that typically influence your premium include:
- Your driving history, including accidents and violations
- The make, model, year, and use of your vehicle
- The coverage types and limits you select
- Your chosen deductible amounts
- Your location (state, and in some states, ZIP code)
- Other factors permitted by state law
Your actual rate will be provided in your quote. Quoted rates are not guaranteed until a policy is issued following underwriting review.
Discounts
ShieldPoint offers a variety of discounts that may reduce your premium. Discount availability and amounts vary by state and are subject to eligibility requirements. Common discounts include multi-policy, safe driver, good student, and paperless billing discounts. Ask about available discounts when you get your quote.
